Through discussion, reassemble the existing into a new shape
Restructurers (Restructurers; Russian Реструкторы) is one of the four groups of Argumentation Style (Стиль аргументации), a group of eight types formed by the combination Logic (T) × Irrational (P).
The core principle of argumentation is "structural redesign" — through discussion, reassemble the existing into a new shape.
In the Russian primary sources it is described as creative logic, and this group is defined by the functional position used in reaching conclusions through discussion (programmatic vs. creative, logic vs. ethics). It is symbolically associated with Swords / Mechi (the element Air) of the tarot.
People belonging to the Restructurers group are not excessively bound by existing moral frameworks or social norms. Rules and conventions are not "things to be obeyed" but "tools to be used for a purpose." They are not easily swept up by feelings such as guilt and emotional wounds, and they have a temperament that keeps the mind calm and stable. Their attitude toward material loss and lack is also somewhat matter-of-fact, and what most strongly moves them is maximizing freedom of action.
The Restructurer style draws one type from each of Model K's 8 Quadras, for a total of 8 types. This is an important structural feature of Argumentation Style: it is a classification axis independent of the value-group (Quadra). The same mode of argumentation is shared by people of different values and different outlooks on life.
Click each type name to go to its detailed profile. The eight types each belong to a different Quadra, yet through the shared functional position of Logic (T) × Irrational (P) they share the same argumentation principle of "structural redesign."
That the Restructurer's mode of argumentation arises from the crossing of T + P (Logic × Irrational) has a structural necessity. Logic (T) treats "objective facts, systems, and causation" as the currency of discussion, and Irrational (P) treats the conclusion as "situation-dependent and fluid." Their combination yields a mode that argues in order to reassemble the existing into a new structure using existing tools and concepts.
All eight Restructurer types have Ti (structural logic) or Te (action logic) in the creative function of the Ego block. This is the structure that the Russian primary sources call "creative logic (творческая логика)." In discussion, "If we redesign this, if we use a different combination..." is their core question, and reassembling the existing into a new shape with a slight rearrangement is their natural mode of argumentation. Swords of the tarot, with its symbolism of "the wind of analysis and decomposition," expresses the essence of this group.
In the Russian primary sources, Restructurers are described as Реструкторы (functional position: creative logic). They are placed in direct correspondence with the tarot's Swords / Mechi, symbolizing the mode of argumentation as the "Air" element among the four elements.
Below are the patterns of argumentation common to Restructurer types, organized by stage of discussion. These are not features of an individual personality but tendencies observed statistically and structurally among people who share this style.
Each of the eight Restructurer types is in a Dual relation (complete complementary relation) with one specific type of the Diplomat group. Within discussion, logic and ethics complement each other in reaching conclusions — the most natural and stable cooperative relationship.
The important point is that the Dual relation "does not require the partner to be of the same style." A Restructurer type is Dual with one specific type determined by the combination of Diplomat style × Quadra × Q/D.
The character of Restructurers' relations with the other Argumentation-Style groups is determined by the axes they share (T/F or J/P):
| Partner style | Character of the relation |
|---|---|
| Guardians (F + J) | Complete opposition — both logic vs. ethics and irrational vs. rational differ. |
| Constructors (T + J) | Share the same logic (T) — an adjacent relation. Logic is mutually intelligible, but Constructors orient toward a fixed system while Restructurers orient toward fluid redesign. |
| Diplomats (F + P) | Dual (irrational-family complement) — The Restructurer's logical redesign and the Diplomat's adjustment of relationships complement each other in discussion. The best cooperative relationship. |
The Restructurer style is distributed across all eight Quadras. While sharing the same principle of argumentation — "structural redesign" — the mode of expression varies according to the values of the Quadra to which a type belongs.
The Restructurer style places one type in each of all eight Quadras (α: ILE-Q Seeker · β: SLE-D Conqueror · γ: ILI-D Strategist · δ: SLI-Q Artisan · −α: ILI-Q Critic · −β: SLI-D Craftsman · −γ: ILE-D Visionary · −δ: SLE-Q Reformer). Sharing the same principle of "argumentation for redesign," the expression varies by the values of the Quadra.
α and −γ (the cheerful-wise / ILE-based family) restructure the existing with intellectual curiosity and inventive ideas. β and −δ (the cheerful-resolute / SLE-based family) transform existing order through resolute executive power. γ and −α (the serious-resolute / ILI-based family) redesign the existing over the long term with a cool strategic eye. δ and −β (the serious-wise / SLI-based family) raise the quality of the existing and reconstitute it with craftsman-like precision.
Argumentation Style is also called the "Health Group (Группы здоровья)." Interactions among Restructurer types restore and nourish the mind and body of other Restructurers — because their modes of argumentation are perfectly attuned and no cognitive or emotional friction arises.
When Restructurers discuss with one another, their modes of reaching conclusions resonate and they do not become exhausted even after long discussion. On the contrary, they have the distinctive experience of "gaining vitality from discussion." This is a phenomenon confirmed in the empirical research of G. Reinin and S. Gindin, and is applied in modern organizational psychology to seating arrangement and team composition.
