Formation, Classification, and Contained Relations
A map of small groups — formation, classification, contained relations

The socion (32 types) can be cut into small groups in many ways. This page lists every group that appears in the header "Groups" menu, organized by how each is formed, how Kasiukov's group theory classifies it, and which trait axes it shares, which classical relation structure it has, and which relations Model K contains, and links to each detail page.

What Is a Group ── One Person Belongs to Multiple Groups

The Seeker (ILE-Q) belongs to the α quadra, belongs to the Research club, falls in the Frozen group on stress resistance, and is a member of the Heritage Ring (α→−δ→γ→−β) within the Succession Ring ── depending on which group lens you use, different faces of the same type emerge. The keys are "how it is formed and how it is classified" and "which traits it shares and which relations it contains." All groups on this page correspond to the "Groups" menu at the top of the site.

How Groups Are Formed ── Tetratomies and Octatomies

In classical Socionics (Model A, 16 types), combining three independent Reinin dichotomies divides the 16 types into four. This is called a tetratomy (4-way division), and there are exactly 35 possible tetratomies (R1–R35).

In Model K (32 types), since the Q/D axis is added, the number of divisions changes even for the same combination of Reinin axes. In some cases the classical 4-way division is preserved and one group contains 8 people (tetratomy, 4 groups × 8 people: club, stress resistance, etc.), while in others Q/D further splits each group, yielding a finer 8-way division (octatomy, 8 groups × 4 people: labyrinth, mobilization, square, business square, etc.).

In Model K (32 types), group sizes change. With the addition of the Q/D axis, the same Reinin basis develops in two ways: tetratomy (4 groups × 8 people) and octatomy (8 groups × 4 people), and the internal relations also appear under different names than in classical 16 types (e.g.: the bonds of the labyrinth are super-ego in the classical system, but appear as role and conflict in Model K). R numbers are classical-baseline references; actual group sizes and contained relations follow the definitions on each group page.

Kasiukov's Three Classes

Kasiukov & Makarcheva (2011) classified tetratomies into three classes according to their relationship to intertype-relation groups. This is the ordering used in §04.

Factor tetratomies 11 kinds

The division coincides with the orbits of a relation group, and each class is closed under intertype relations. The classical relation structure (generating subgroup) forms the skeleton. R1–R7, R28, R29, R32, R33.

Orbit tetratomies 4 kinds

The classes are orbits but the relation group differs per class (Reinin's "homogeneous" groups). R13, R19, R30, R31. Square and Business Square belong to this series.

Non-orbit tetratomies 20 kinds

Groups bound only by shared traits. They are not closed under intertype relations, so they have no classical relation structure. R8–R12, R14–R18, R20–R27, R34, R35.

Group List ── Functional Class, Trait Axes, Classical Relation Structure, Model K Contained Relations

A full list of every group in the header menu, sorted by the three classes (and Model K rings). Functional class distinguishes psychodynamic (intertype relations themselves), trait (shared traits), and ring. The "Classical relation structure" column shows the generating subgroup under the 16-type premise; the "Model K contained relations" column shows the actual internal relations in 32 types based on each group page — the two are presented separately. Comfort levels and group sizes follow the definitions on each group page.

Factor tetratomies

The division coincides with the orbits of a relation group, and each class is closed under intertype relations. However, in Model K (32 types), the Q/D axis splits groups into 4-person or 8-person versions, and the internal relations also appear under different names than in classical 16 types (Model A).

Stress Resistance and Block Groups are different groups. Both derive from classical R3, but Model K splits the classical "Contrary bonds" into two via Q/D ── Stress Resistance is 4 groups × 8 people (Frozen, Trained, Weak, Strong) containing Dual, Ideal, Compass… with comfort 71.4. Block Groups (extinguishing) is a different structure connecting two dual pairs via Distance, with Dual, Distance, Role = comfort 33.3 (a group that does not ignite). The same R3 yields different pages with different structures.
The Square page handles the pair Square (rest · R19) and Business Square (collaboration · R13).

The "Meaning of Shared Traits" and "Group Effect" for Each Group

The list above shows the axis names and contained relation structure. The table below summarizes in one phrase what the shared traits mean for each group (for trait-type groups) or what happens when they gather as a group (for psychodynamic-type and ring-type groups).

Trait groups ── meaning of shared traits
GroupWhat the shared trait means
ClubSame area of interest / competence (perception × judgment). Research / Social / Humanitarian / Practical ── specialist conversation arises immediately within the same club.
Bouquet (temperament)Same temperament and tempo (E/I × Rational/Irrational). Physical rhythm, reaction speed, and energy usage align.
Motivation (stimulus groups)Same origin of motive (Uniqueness / Well-being / Status / Self-Confidence). What drives each member coincides.
Communication StyleSame mode of conversation (Business-like / Sincere / Passionate / Cold-blooded). Speech style, distance, and temperature align.
Action ModeSame movement of the judgment circuit (Conceptualism / Methodology / Harmony / Inspiration). Ego rational functions manifest similarly.
Argumentation StyleSame way of building an argument (Reconstruction / Diplomacy / Protection / Design). Persuasion structure is isomorphic, so arguments mesh.
PerceptionSame way of grasping the world (Sensitivity / Flexibility / Basic / Thorough). What members notice first coincides.
Cognitive StyleSame flow of thought (Causal-Determinist / Dialectical / Vortical-Synergistic / Holographic). The geometry of inference matches.
Romance (love outlook)Same romantic outlook and sex-role (Child / Parent / Aggressor / Victim). Manner of distance-taking and courtship are shared.
Inflation RingSame energy metabolism (Generation / Accumulation / Calibration / Addition). The energy-side role within Request Ring R32 coincides.
Project GroupSame project phase (Conceptual Process / Concrete Process / Concrete Result / General Result). The phase each member carries aligns.
Implementation GroupSame implementation phase (Technical Invention / Social Embedding / Ideal Introduction / Technical Introduction). How something is brought into society is shared.
Psychodynamic groups ── what happens when they gather
GroupWhat happens when they gather
QuadraShared values → all relations COMFORT 100. Closed under only Dual × 2, Activation × 2, Mirror × 2; lights up the 4 value blocks in both consciousness and unconsciousness. A rare group where one is most oneself and at the same time motivation and learning arise.
Square (rest)Bound by Dual + Kindred + Belonging, a place where values are shared and rest is gentle. The Prudent × Carefree combination creates "a place that needs no vigilance."
Business Square (collaboration)Bound by Dual + Business + Resonance, optimized for goal-directed cooperation. The Merry × Compliant combination accelerates practical agreement.
OctadShares the same mode of metabolism (rationality + positivism/negativism + Q/D) across all quadras. A "transverse intelligence" that unites by mode even when values differ.
Reactor (excitation group)Shares the same direction of excitation (Radiation / Refinement / Eruption / Accumulation-of-Momentum). Energy propagates via Activation, Ideal… and excites the field.
Stress ResistanceShares the same mode of crisis-response (Frozen / Trained / Weak / Strong). Solidarity under stress emerges via Dual, Ideal, Compass…
MobilizationShares the same mobilization switch (the condition for initiating action). Via Dual, Transcendence, and Correction, the moment of setting in motion is synchronized.
ConditioningShares the same style of conditioning the field. Via Activation, Compass, and Correction, the way of preparing the atmosphere aligns.
LabyrinthThe four mirrors ── self, mirror, mask, shadow ── gather in one place (Mirror + Role + Conflict). Each provides a different kind of "mirror" to the others, so self-identity is structurally formed, confirmed, and shaken.
Block Groups (extinguishing)Bound by Dual × 2 + Distance + Role, satisfied yet without fire. A stagnant group where comfort and standstill coexist.
Ring groups ── how they connect
GroupHow it connects and what is transmitted
Succession Ring SRWithin the same regime (Democratic ↔ Democratic · Aristocratic ↔ Aristocratic), Benefactor + Mentor relations complete a cycle. A "wheel of generations" that gently passes on values and craft.
Social Progress Ring SPRAcross regimes (Democratic ↔ Aristocratic), Tense Benefactor + Supervision / Player complete a cycle. A "wheel of progress" that advances the era while carrying value-transformation and tension.

Ring Branching ── Model K Branches the Two Classical Rings

In the classical system there are two "rings" ── the Request Ring (R32 · заказ) and the Supervision Ring (R33 · ревизия). Model K branches these by whether the regime (Democratic/Aristocratic) is shared or crossed.

The within-regime pair (Benefactor Ring + Mentor Ring) = Succession Ring SR gently transmits via benefaction and mentor-disciple (66.7–71.4). The regime-crossing pair (Order Ring + Supervision Ring) = Social Progress Ring SPR carries the tension of advancing the era across Democratic ↔ Aristocratic (33.3–42.9). The Succession Ring consists of 16 lines = 4 basic ones (Heritage / Renaissance / Dynasty / Canon). Reading Request Ring R32 itself in terms of energy metabolism gives Inflation Ring; reading Supervision Ring R33 in terms of thinking style gives Cognitive Style.

Functional Class ── Another Way of Reading

Even for the same group, its face changes depending on whether you read it as "what happens when we are together (psychodynamic)," "which traits are shared (trait)," or "how it connects (ring)."

Average Comfort ── A One-Dimensional Map of "Healing ⇔ Training"

The internal pairs of each group are averaged by COMFORT value (Dual, Activation, Identity, Mirror = 100 … Role, Conflict, Distance = 0), arranging the texture of each group along a single axis. Values are based on the internal relation structure on each group page. Constituent rings (BR, MR, SOR, SVR) are also included. Colors follow Kasiukov's classification (factor / orbit / non-orbit / Model K ring).

Square (R19 · rest) and Business Square (R13 · collaboration) are treated as a pair on the Square page. Groups with literature names but no page (e.g., the Existence-Form R10) are candidates for future pages once the definition is established.
