Forge — Construction
Planfully affirming what functions and clearly declaring to build it up — the Octad of construction

The character of this Octad

Forge is the group of eight types sharing the three axes Rational × Positivist × Declatim. Planfully advancing things (Rational), affirming and polishing what functions (Positivist), and asserting and declaring clearly (Declatim). When the three overlap, the constructive stance of "determining what functions, declaring it and building it up" rises up.

The line-up — Hero, Pioneer, Executive, Inspector, Designer, Protector, Empath, Enthusiast — are types skilled in driving, practical work, design, guarding, and devotion. The Hero (EIE) holds up the ideal; the Pioneer (LIE) launches enterprises; the Executive (LSE) runs the organization; the Inspector (LSI) maintains discipline; the Designer (LII) builds the system; the Protector (ESI) defends order. They affirm "this works, let's go with this" and bring things into shape.

Among the four Octads, Forge is the most constructive and executive group. It does not just speak of possibility; it forges it into firm order, institutions and results. Like striking material in a forge to produce something formed — selecting what functions, declaring it and building it — that is the color of this group.

The three traits the eight share

The eight in Forge all come from different quadras yet completely share three binary traits. The combination of these three axes — Rational × Positivist × Declatim — is precisely what determines Forge's color as a group. Temperament, club and internal compatibility all follow from these three axes.

Axis 1 — how to engage
RationalRational
Plans in advance and decides early. Sticks with what has been decided once and sees through what has been started. Movements are controlled, and leadership tends to be top-down.
Axis 2 — what to look at
PositivistPositivist
Grasps things as "what exists, what has been realized" and optimizes and polishes the existing. Open from first contact; uses many affirmative expressions ("can," "there is"). Sees the glass as "half full."
Axis 3 — how to convey
DeclatimDeclative
Conversations are monological; takes the lead in the conversation. The tone is assertive, with clear narrative arc. Emphasizes the act of conveying information.

When planfulness (Rational), possibility-orientation (Positivist) and assertion (Declatim) overlap, the stance is to identify what functions and approach it planfully, affirm and confirm it, and declare and push it forward clearly. The three combined produce a posture of construction that produces forms without hesitation.

Members — the eight types

Forge is the eight-person group that gathers one type sharing Rational × Positivist × Declatim from each of the eight quadras (α · -α · β · -β · γ · -γ · δ · -δ).

Internal allocation — eight people carrying one style

The eight who share the same three axes divide roles inside the group. The diversity of values (all eight quadras), the diversity of interests (all four clubs) and the balance of extraversion and introversion all converge under the same style. The division can be organized by a lattice of two temperaments (Linear-Assertive / Balanced-Stable) × four clubs (Researchers · Socials · Humanitarians · Pragmatists).

The two people in each column (the same club) are a value-inverted pair (sharing the interest but with opposite values — an extravert/introvert pair). The four people in each row (the same temperament) cover all four clubs, one each.

Rows — allocation by temperament
Pushers and consolidators (4 extraverts, 4 introverts)
The two temperaments are the extraverted (Linear-Assertive) and introverted (Balanced-Stable) forms of the shared rationality axis. The four extraverts actively push forward; the four introverts hold and consolidate — extraversion and introversion are cleanly balanced and the active force and the receptive force are matched.
Columns — allocation by club
Covers all four domains
All four clubs (Researchers · Socials · Humanitarians · Pragmatists) are present with two members each. The two in each column are a value-inverted extravert/introvert pair. Forge is not biased toward a specific interest domain and unfolds the same style in every domain.

Multi-angled vantage through all value-sets

The eight in Forge cover all eight quadras' values, one each — α (Enthusiast) · -β (Executive) · γ (Pioneer) · -δ (Hero) · -α (Protector) · β (Inspector) · -γ (Designer) · δ (Empath). What binds the eight is not values but the shared style Rational × Positivist × Declatim. Because they are loosely bound by style, all mutually opposing values can be housed in one group. Forge is a group that can unfold the single stance of "construction" multi-angularly through the angles of every value-set.

Role in the crisis/transition cycle

Forge carries the second stage of the cycle, the latter half of the creation phase. Inheriting the possibilities found by the previous stage, Quest (Exploration) (bridging axis = Positivist), it forges them into planned order and results. If Quest makes 0 into the start of 1, Forge completes it as a certain 1.

From among the possibilities explored, it selects those that actually function, declares them and gives them firm form. The order built this way will, in due course, have its limits questioned by the next stage, Herald (Proclamation) — the two share the stance of Declatim (bridging axis = Declatim), so what was built assertively moves into the scrutiny phase where it is announced assertively.
