Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist (1945–). He established the benchmark of country rock with "Heart of Gold" — the "Godfather of Grunge." Refusing commercial compromise throughout his career, he has remained one of rock's most authentic and uncompromising voices. His Farm Aid concert (supporting American farmers) and environmental activism show the craftsman's ethic applied to social responsibility.
