Greek-American opera singer (1923–1977). She reigned as the 20th century's greatest soprano at La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, and the world's greatest stages — "La Divina (the Divine One)." Her tumultuous love affair with shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis became as legendary as her voice. Died alone in Paris at 53, her recordings continue to define the standard of operatic expression.
