Keith Richards

SLI-D "Artisan" Guitarist · British · 20th–21st c.

British guitarist (1943–). Co-founder of the Rolling Stones, he has driven the band alongside Mick Jagger for over 60 years. Called "the greatest rhythm guitarist in rock history," his open-G tuning and riff-based style defined rock music. The archetypal rock survivor — his dissolute lifestyle and longevity both equally legendary.

Leading Function+Si-p (Comfort & Wellbeing)

A bold pursuit of sound, alcohol, and physical pleasure as the core of the basic function. The tactile feel of guitar and the sensation of sound as the lifelong centre — the physical performance experience on stage (vibration, volume, space) as an intense sensory pleasure.

Creative Function-Te-c (Application & Experiment)

A craftsman practitioner who personally modified and adjusted guitars and continued to trial and improve sound. Developing the open-G tuning as a result of years of acoustic experimentation. Craftsman's refinement of chord progressions.

Vulnerable Function 1+Fe-p weak (Mission & Prestige)

Weak +Fe-p: a consistent indifference to the sense of collective mission ("rock will change the world") in the rock industry. "I am not a political rock star — I just love music."

Vulnerable Function 2-Ni-c weak (Warning & Divergence)

Weak -Ni-c: multiple documented instances of critical decisions on health and the band's survival producing reactive results. Long-term drug dependency, deepening intra-band conflict — judgements at branching points consistently in the moment rather than strategic.

Quadra / Temperament / Club

Quadra: Anti-Beta Quadra (Civil Society) — fundamental scepticism of the power structures of the record industry, the commercialisation of music, and the star system. "Real rock is not made by those in power — it grows from the street."

Temperament: Receptive-Adaptive temperament: an inward, taciturn style of quiet declaration through music. Responding to external pressures from record companies, media, and band members through adaptation rather than direct confrontation.

Club: Pragmatist Club: guitar and music production as fields of hands-on craft and practical management. Actual guitar modification, recording equipment operation, tour on-the-ground management — accumulated practical technical skills.

Worldview & Attitude

"The freedom and rebellion of rock and roll is the truth" — optimistic individual conviction. A worldview aware of structural dangers and trusting in musical authenticity as the response.

Attitude toward Change: Executing the Rolling Stones as a five-decade cultural transformation plan — a realistic practitioner of sustained creative reinvention.
