Rumi (Jalāl ad-Dīn Rūmī)
IEI-Q "Dreamteller" Sufi Poet · Persian · 13th c.Persian Sufi poet and mystic (1207–1273). The Masnavi — his masterwork exploring divine love and the soul's journey across 6 volumes and 25,000 verses — is the supreme achievement of Sufi literature. The whirling Mevlevi dervishes embody his teaching that ecstatic movement brings the soul closer to God. Widely read across cultural and religious boundaries, Rumi is currently the best-selling poet in the United States.
Leading Function-Ni-p (Crisis & Fantasy)
Sensing the "cosmic crisis of the annihilation of love" when Shams-i-Tabrīzī disappeared — explosively creating over 40,000 lines of poetry. The Masnavi — encoding the suffering of separation as cosmic -Ni-p vision.
Creative Function+Fe-c (Elation & Revelation)
"Many poems were dictated in a state of ecstasy induced by the sound of drums and flutes" (Britannica). The Sema (whirling dance) — practicing +Fe-c ecstasy through physical rotation.
Vulnerable Function 1-Te-p weak (Optimization & Ingenuity)
Weak -Te-p: all practical management of the madrasa delegated to disciples and family. "Abandoning all responsibilities to family and disciples" the moment Shams arrived. Finances dependent on the Sultan's patronage and disciples.
Vulnerable Function 2+Si-c weak (Diligence & Care)
Weak +Si-c: weak in providing personal comfort and sensory human warmth. Concentration on introverted creation pushing outward sensory care to the background.
Quadra / Temperament / Club
Quadra: Beta Quadra (Empire) — simultaneously receiving the protection of the Sultan (absolute worldly power) and Allah (absolute divine power) — affinity with Beta imperial order. Dependence on Shams as an overwhelming charismatic authority.
Temperament: Receptive-Adaptive temperament: emotional introspection and quiet adaptation to external turbulence. Continuing to create works by going with the flow.
Club: Humanitarian-Artistic Club: poetry, music (Sema), and Sufi education as forms. The Masnavi as the supreme evidence of the Humanitarian-Artistic Club — the exploration of the human soul through divine love.
Worldview & Attitude
"Through love of God, humanity can move toward completion" — Sufi optimism. A worldview that trusts divine love as the redemptive response to complexity and danger.
Attitude toward Change: The Masnavi as a directional symbol of transformation — pointing the direction; the institutional spread of Mevlevi Sufism left to disciples.
